TOLIVER, ISOM: Jacob Toliver was born about 1799 in Ashe County, NC. On 27 Dec 1821 he married Susannah Isom (born about 1806 in Virginia to John S and Rebecca (Cole) Isom) in Grayson County, Virginia. They were in Martin Twp, Lawrence County, Indiana by 1833 and had moved to Pixley Twp, Clay County, Illinois by 1842. Jacob was dead by October 1854. Jacob and Susannah’s children were (at least) Sarah, b-1830 Vi; Mahala, b-Jan 1833 In; Darcus, b-1836 In; Wilburn, b-1838 In; John, b-1841 In; Harriet(?), b-1842 Il and George A, b-1843 In(?). Who were Jacob’s parents? Most researchers indicate they were Charles and Susan (Edwards) Toliver. However none have ever shown me any proof of this claim. My research in Lawrence County, Indiana of Charles and Susan Toliver do not prove their relationship. Charles’ will and all the land deeds that followed Susan’s death do not mention Jacob even though he lived adjacent to Charles and Susan and owned some land that once belonged to them. Other researchers (of Mahala Tolivers’ husband) indicate Jacob Tolivers parents were Jesse Toliver and Francis (Franky) Stampler again without proof. Jesse is a brother to Charles. I also would like to know when Susannah (Isom) Toliver died and where she and Jacob are buried. I obviously would like to communicate with any current descendants of these people. Francis Marion Wilcox aka Alex Wilcox: Can you please help me find out who this person's parents are? He is in the Ashe and Grayson county census starting 1880 through 1910. I know that he died in Ashe county in 1920 and he is buried in the Finley Cemetary. He married Nancy Elizabeth Finley on 11/22/1874 and they had 5 children. Elizabeth, Robert, George, Martha and William. I am told that Alex was not really a Wilcox. His mother was a Pendleton and that he was raised by a Wilcox, but no one knows the Wilcox that raised him. In the 1900 census, Piney Creek Township, he is listed as being born Jan. 1852. Thanks! Ron Wilcox Athens, GA

Doing research on the McMillan Clan of Ashe and Alleghany Counties NC. The family was originally found in Wilkes County Abt. 1788 or a little later by John McMillan and his Wife Marion (nee McLymont,McLeamont, McLamont, Lamont Lamond, etc.) McMillan. John became the first clerk of the court of Ashe County in 1799 when it was formed from Wilkes County. The family became well established with all of teh children of John and Marion marrying with the families of the Fields, Gambills', Koontz, Colvards, Kilby's and Reeves, just to name a few. If anyone has further info on this and all of the associated families please contact me. You can see what data I have accumilated so far by reviewing my McMillan Family Report currently posted at my user page located on the Family Tree Maker web site. The address is http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/w/e/l/claude-e-wells/ I have several reports posted but two are for the McMillan's. Iam trying to gather as much info on the families as possible to make my tree grow and to create a file that can be used for others who may be trying to get data together for hteri tree. And I figure the more places people have to look and th more places the data is available the least likely this important family info will become lost for our future generations

I am doing research on my mothers side of the Family Tree. Her maiden name is McMillan and she is descendant from the McMillan's who settled in what became initially Ashe County, NC. The first of her family to settle in the Carolinas was a John McMillan and his wife Marion, nee McLymont (also have seen records saying Mcleamont, LaMaont or Lamond). John was the first clerk of the court of Ashe County, in 1799. Trying to locate any one who may have access to a family bible or transcripts from the bible showing info on birth dates, places and any info on their children and other descendants from this family. I have info on a lot of the names, but need verification and dates to complete records for the old Family Tree. The associated names of the families that are known are the Reeves, Koontz's, Colvard's, etc., etc. But these are the primary ones. Most of my info can be found on the Web Site form Family Tree Maker, http://www.familytreemaker.com, in the user home pages you would go to the home page under my name Claude E. Wells. I have several reports listed there which contains most of the info I have. I am looking for any family history info to add to my notes info for individuals, whether it be oral history or written. I am also trying to findout is anyone has past info on John and Marion, where they are from in Scotland, specificaly the parrish or town or even their parents names, I want to try and go further back in time with the family research than John and Marion. If you check my user page at Family Tree Maker you will be able to see what I am looking for and hopefully help me fill in blanks.
