JACKSON

Judy Jackson Scovronski - March 15, 2004

Looking for the JACKSONS that started out in the Beaufort/Hyde precinct abt 1716 and eventually leave Beaufort for Washington Co. NC sometime between 1840 and 1850. My basic info shows an Isaac JACKSON in the Beaufort/Hyde precinct and had a will dated 1716, followed by Thomas, then another Isaac, then Eleazer (believe the move from Hyde to Beaufort took place with Eleazer - he was born prior to 1790), then another Isaac, then Levi JACKSON (born 1805 and who appears in the 1850 Washington Co. census). Levi had a son, William Henry JACKSON, who married Elizabeth COLLINS and I descend from their line. Anyone out there have info on this line of JACKSONS? I especially find the name "Eleazer" fascinating and want to know more. Thanks!

JARVIS / SEARS / TINGLE / PIPKIN

Marcella Aldridge July 16, 2007

Seeking to mother's maiden names: 1. Ann (Unknown), wife of Hilliard "Hillary" JARVIS. 2. First wife of William Martin JARVIS (not Susan SEARS), mother of Carney Rodman JARVIS, born Hyde County in 1856. He is listed as nephew of John William TINGLE and Clarissa (PIPKIN) TINGLE on 1880 census.

JONES / IRELAND / BEASLEY (also Aldridge / Harris / Smithwick)

Jim Spencer April 6, 2006

Researching Francis JONES (b. ca. 1824, d. 1 Jun 1862) and children from the Beaufort Co. area. Evidence suggests Francis died in the Civil War. Neither the book on the Mayo and Jones families, Kissin' Cousins, nor personal research have identified Francis' parents, although family researchers have theories. There is conflicting information on the maiden name of Francis' wife: Elizabeth IRELAND or possibly BEASLEY - family records differ from brief information noted in Kissin' Cousins. Parents of Elizabeth (b. ca. 1820; d. 31 Dec 1896) are not known for either surname. Francis and Elizabeth had 4 children: Augustus ("Gus") JONES (b. 20 Feb 1853; d. 21 Feb 1907), married to Laura Annie ALDRIDGE in Beaufort Co. on 15 Feb 1882; Decator ("Cate") JONES (b. 6 sep 1854; d. after 1920), married to Sidney HARRIS in Beaufort Co. on 10 Aug 1881, Henry JONES (b. 6 Mar 1855; d. ?), and Sarah Frances JONES (b. 12 Dec 1859; d. aft. 1910), married to Joseph SMITHWICK in Beaufort Co. on 11 Aug 1881. Francis and family are found in the 1860 census for Beaufort Co., but none of them have been located in the 1870 census anywhere. Elizabeth (widowed) and children reappear in the Beaufort Co. 1880 census.

JORDAN / FERRELL

Elaine F. Morris July 25, 2007

I have traced Thomas Leroy JORDAN/JORDON from Wake County, NC in 1850 to Beaufort County in 1870. His parents were Nicholas JORDAN and Frances (FERRELL) JORDAN from Wake County, NC. Wife Annie Laura has died before the 1880 Census of Richland, Beaufort County. Known children are daughters; Frances born about 1852, Ellenor/ Ella/ Elleaner born abt. 1855, Inuendo/ Emiendo born about 1858 and Mary born about 1860. I am trying to find out what happened to this family. Who did the daughters marry? Even with the alterned names, I feel that the JORDAN family in 1850 is the same JORDON family as found in the 1880 Census for Beaufort County. Any information is appreciated.

LANGLEY / BRINN

Diane Schlegel November 9, 2000

MEDICAL NEED: Attempting to find information on my great-grandmother, Elizabeth LANGLEY, possibly from Beaufort County/Pantego area (b. 1862, d. 1942). She married Stephen Sanford BRINN, Hyde County (b. 1858, d. 1929). I have a lot of information on the BRINN line but absolutely no information beyond the name, birth and death date of Elizabeth LANGLEY. Some male descendents of Stephen BRINN have been diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa - a gentic eye disease, primarily striking male children and the carrier is the mother. It is suspected the gene entered our family through Elizabeth LANGLEY. By trying to get information from Elizabeth LANGLEY's line and particularly from her mother and great grandmother, it may help us to see the pattern of the disease. Thank you!

LEARY / CARAWAN

I am searching for any information on Salathiel LEARY (b.ca. 1755-65) of Hyde County. Also, any information on the parents of Henty Jordan CARROWAN (b. Mar. 16, 1842 - d. June 7, 1902) from Craven County. Thanks for your help.

LEATH / LEITH / HODGES / MIDYETT

Jim Spencer July 27, 2003

Looking for information on William T. LEITH/LEATH of Hyde County, especially regarding any children.  Based on his estate records, William died between March and August 1824, but there is no indication of his age.  Possible relatives of William include Thomas LEITH (deceased - father/uncle?), James LEITH, Samuel LEITH (brother?), John R. LEITH (brother?) and Charles J.(?) LEITH, so information on them would also be helpful.
Also interested in Wilson B. HODGES, who filed papers and bond in August 1824 to be the administrator for William: who were members of Wilson's family (in case he is related to William by marriage)?
Finally, which Bannister MIDYETT (shown as Justice of the Peace on other documents) is the co-signer to the administrator bond?  Again, who are the members of Bannister's family in case he is related to William by marriage?  [Bannister appears to be married to William's sister or widow, and is found listed as party to or JP on documents through 1848.] I have not been able to find census records or other information on the families of William or Wilson.  Thanks!
