Julius Joshua Bordeaux and wife Maggie Lee Devane

Julius Joshua Bordeaux was born 4 July, 1885 in the White Oak region of Bladen County. He was the son of Marshall William Bordeaux and Ellen Ann Johnson, both of Turnbull Creek.  Julius, as well as 3 of his brothers, Tillet Asbury, Bishop Skidmore, and Edward Jurium, were named after Methodist ministers.  Julius was named for his grandfather.  His mother, Ellen, was the daughter of Joshua Johnson, who was a Methodist minister in the Turnbull Creek area.  Julius was only 3 years old when his father, Marshall, died from pneumonia.  

Julius and 2 of his brothers, Tillet and Bishop, moved across the Cape Fear River and settled in between Dublin and Elizabethtown on what is now known as Owen Hill Road.  Julius owned a farm and lived where present day J.J. Bordeaux Road is in Bladen County.  Julius died on 12 February, 1969.

Julius and Maggie were married 29 March, 1908.  They had 16 children all of which lived to maturity.

Julius and 2 of his brothers, Tillet and Bishop, all married Devane girls, sisters.  Tillet married Susan "Sudie" J. Devane, and Bishop married Emma Jane Devane.

Maggie Lee Devane was the youngest daughter of
Francis "Franklin" Davis Devane and Sarah "Sallie" Elizabeth Young of White Oak.  She was born 22 June, 1890.  Frank Devane died shortly after Maggie was born.
