William Ben Dowless, son of J. D. and Addie Jackson Dowless was born 8 August, 1894 in Robeson County, NC and died 8 February, 1960 in Abbottsburg, Bladen County, NC. William Ben married Mary Julia Callihan (1895 - 1965) daughter of Charley and Civil Thompson Callihan. William Ben and Mary Julia had 7 daughters and 2 sons. Ben was the founder of Dowless Tobacco Curers of Abbottsburg, NC.
