To the sheriff of Brunswick County greeting
You are hereby commanded to take the bodies of Thomas M Williams and George W Swain if to be found in your county and them safely keep so that you have them before the justices of our next Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions to be held for the County of Brunswick at the courthouse in Smithville on the first Monday in March next then and there to answer Christopher C Morse Administrator of Uriah Morse of a plea that they render to him one hundred and seven dollars which to him they owe and detain to his damage fifty dollars herein fail not and have you then and there Witness Jesse G Drew Clerk of our said Court at office in Smithville the first Monday in December AD 1857

Know all men by these presents that we Christoper C Morse, J A S Price & Richard Doshier of the county and state aforesaid are held and firmly bound unto Rufus Galloway and John G Swain of the same county and state in the sum of one thousand dollars to the payment whereof well and truly to be made we bind ourselvves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally formally by these presents, sealed with our seals and dated this 12th day of Jnuary AD 1858
The conditon of this obligations is such that whereas the above bounden Christopher C Morse is administrator of the estate of Uriah Morse, decd and in this capacity of Administrator hath in his possession a certain negro girl named Easter which negro he is about removing out of the state of North Carolina to Fernandina Florida or elsewhere and whereas the said Rufus Galloway and John C Swain who are sureties of said Christopher's administrator bond as Admr of the Estate of U Morse as aforesaid object to the removal of said Negro beyond the limits of North Carolina. Therefore if the said Christopher shall save the said Rufus and John G harmless and free from all loss or damage by reason of the removal of said slave beyond the limits of North Carolina and shall return said slave to Smithville NC before 1st Jan 1859, then and in that case this obligation to be void; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

The Petitioner hereby makes appreciation that where as sometime since a curtain Col'd(?) child names James Stone was bound to him by the Hon Judge of Probate. Your petitioner hereby prays that he may be unbound from his guardian bond and that the child be turned over to his mother who is duly compliant to take care of said child and ? of the doing, and your petitioner will duly pray (?)

Court of Please and Quarter Sessions
September Term 1836

To the worshipful the Justices of the court aforesaid the petition of Uriah Morse and Margaret his wife respectfully shows that some time in the year 1833 Andrew L Gold of the county above written and having your petitioner Margaret his widow and being at his death seized of a certain tract or parcel of land in the county aforesaid containing eight hundred acres lying in the land opposite ? Inlet being bounded on the south by the sound and the north by the lands of Henry Nutt(?) and the rest of the lands of said Henry and on the East by the same. Your petitioner presents to your worships that Margaret one of your petitioners who was left a widow of said Andrew L Gold is entitled to one third part of said land during her life as Dower in said land. The prayer of your petitioners therefore is that a trust of Dower may ? to the Sheriff of the county aforesaid commanding him to summon a jury of lien holders to go upon the premises and lay off to your petitioner Margaret one third of said land agreeably to ? and make a part thereof under their hands and seals to the next term of this court.

Thereby acknowledge to have received from C C Morse administrator as aforesaid Three hundred and ninety six 18/100 dollars in cash and his note with Dunbar Morse as security for one hundred & fifty five dollars dated 17th Augt 1878 at one day payable to J G Drew transferred by him to me without recourse. Which money and notes are in full of all demands against him as Administrator aforesaid out of said amount I am to pay the share due my mother Margaret to retain my own share and the balance is the property of my wards James Morse, Columbia Morse, Kilby Morse, Francis Morse, John Morse, Virginia Morse

At same time C C Morse administrator handed over to me a note signed by Jarrod(?) Matthews & Rufus Galloway dated Jany 1st 1858 and payable on 1st January 1859 for one hundred and one dollars being for hire of Fortune. This one note for forty two dollars with R Dosher as Security due 1st January next for hire of Easter.

Know all men by these presents that we Edward D Morse, Richard Dosher, Rufus Galloway & Lewis Jones are held and firmly bound unto the state aforeaid in the just and full sum of thirty five hundred dollars to be paid to the state to which payment we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 7th day of Sept AD 1858.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bounden Edward D Morse is constituted and appointed Guardiant to James M Morse, Columbia Morse, Cilbia Morse, Francis Morse, John Morse & Virginia Morse, children of Uriah Morse.
Now if the said Edward D Morse shall faithfully execute the said Guardianship by securing and improving the estate of the said James, Columbia, Kilbia, Francis, John, Virginia Morse until they shall arrive at full age, or be sooner thereto required, and then render a plain and true account of said Guardianship on oath before the Justices of the said county court and deliver up, pay to, or pssess the said minors of all such estate or estates they ought to be possessed of or to such person or persons as shall be lawfully empowered to receive the same and the profits arising therefrom, then his obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
