W. Stine Isenhower


 


Walter Stine Isenhower has dedicated his life to service to his community, to his church, and fellowman. He served as a North Carolina State Representative from 1986 to 1992. He is better known in Conover as "Mr. Catawba County."

He is also a veteran of the United States Army. He and his wife Carolyn, reside in Conover. He has served as a Catawba County commissioner and volunteered his services to the following organizations; Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, Conover Lions Club, Conover Volunteer Fire Department, Catawba County YMCA, Boy Scouts, American Red Cross, March of Dimes and many other professional associations.

In 2006, Isenhower was awarded the DAR Medal of Honor, by the Daughters of the American Revolution, for his longtime service and leadership to his community, state and nation. His memories of growing up in Conover are put in his own words. "Memories are a tribute to special people who with faith, love, vision and forethought, created the area we call home today. Their names are forever intertwined with the heritage of our community and will be carved into the stones that mark their footprints."
