Mrs. Mabel Lee Herring, 78, of 1813 Cherokee Drive, Fayetteville, died Wednesday (July 2002) in Cape Fear 
Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Herring was a member of First Baptist Church. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. 
Saturday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Brent Rector. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery 
No. 3. Mrs. Herring is survived by her husband, Gilbert W. Herring Sr. of the home; two daughters, Martha Hamm of 
Houston and Peggy Alvarez of Fayetteville; a son, Richard Herring of Fayetteville; a sister, Zouline Stallings of 
Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Eugene Lee of Burnet, Texas; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.The family 
will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 
First Baptist Church, 201 Anderson St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.
