MAJOR S. S. ANDERSON.---We learn that this distinguished officer, late of the U. S. Army, and for some months 
stationed at the Arsenal here, has been appointed Lieut. Colonel in the Virginia army, and is ordered to Norfolk.  
We wish he could have been retained in North Carolina, as he would have been but that he felt his first duty was 
to his native State.
