Hi, my name is Nina Porter Armstrong, I am from Benson N.C. but all my folks are from Cumberland County. 
My family comes from near Fayetteville in a Little place called Falcon N.C.. We have a family cemetery 
that goes back about three hundred years. It is called the Strickland Dorman Cemetery. It has a bunch 
of folks and most all of them are related to me. I have a deed or copy of one from the family home place 
that show's that my g-g-grandfather bought his brothers and sister's part from each one. He too had a 
brother named Alan or Allen. My g-g-grandpa was Willy Bright Porter,his father was Absolom and he was 
born abt. 1795 . We know Absolom had several children and possibly your Alen was one of them. 1790 was 
the first census and children are not named as in later census's. I also know that the land the Porter's 
bought was called the Hadley land and was bought from the Hadley family out of Massachusetts or Connectticut. 
It was gifted to the Hadley's from KING GEORGE in 1722. All this is on record in the Fayetteville court house. 
So I think the Porter's came from that area or came into the u.s.a. in that area.But I can't say for sure as 
proof is hard to find. But I feel that your Alen is related to my folks and the reason is because I have a 
Dorman connection to Horry County,S.C. and distant kin to folks in and around Ware Shoals and Honea path S.C.  
Plus my g-g-grandfather was killed in the old war in S.C. and buried there. His wife Lived on there for a while 
and through Strickland and Dorman connections she met and married my g-g- grand father A.B. Strickland. She was 
Mary Margaret Porter. It's nice to be able to share this with what could be a distant kin's person.  I hope to hear
