Bethuel "Thul" Ballance
According to his tombstone located in the Ballance-Boswood Cemetery in Maple, Bethuel Ballance was born in 1827 (1900 census states born Mar 1828) and died January 29, 1924. He was the son of Leven and Chloe White Ballance. Currituck Marriage Bk. A indicates that Bethuel married Mahala Ballance on Christmas Day 1856. Bethuel raised his nephew, Charles Miller Boswood [see his photo here].
