Edgar Merrill Gallop

This is a photograph of Edgar Merrill Gallop and his first great-grandchild, Becky Jo Sumner. Edgar Merrill Gallop was the oldest child born to Levi M. Gallop and Martha Ann Merrill. He was born January 30, 1870 and died August 22, 1953. Edgar was first married to Polly M. Parker (1872-1895) on Oct. 29, 1893 and they had one son: Eddie M. Gallop who was born on Dec. 7, 1894 and died June 6, 1972. He is buried in Powells Point Christian Church Cemetery at Harbinger in Currituck County. After Polly died in 1895 Edgar married Ann Susan Parker (1874-1915) on January 3, 1897 and they had the following children:
1) Russell Lee Gallop - Oct. 14, 1898 -- Sept 11, 1955
2) Arthur A. Gallop - Dec, 15, 1901 -- Dec. 9, 1939
3) Herman Gallop - May 20,1904 -- July 1976
4) Ruby Gallop - Sept. 10, 1906 -- Aug 11, 1907
5) Rubie Marie Gallop - Dec 22, 1908 -- Jan. 6, 1997
6) Ernest Gallop - Mar 14, 1910 -- Jan 19, 2001
7) Pollie Gallop - Oct. 28, 1902 -- Mar. 1, 1907
8) infant daughter Gallop - born and died circa Jan. 28, 1915Edgar married for the 3rd time to Nannie Caroline Swain Twiddy in 1916. Nannie was born Jan. 20, 1867 and died July 24, 1930.
