Jesse I. Spry Home

Located just south of Coinjock Canal on U.S. Highway 158.  Presently owned by Mr. and Mrs. Lucian MidgettJesse I. Spry (1845-1929) married Elizabeth Burton.  Mrs. Elizabeth Burton Spry inherited it from her father.  Original materials including hand-carved mantel.  Small stairway to attic enclosed by small doorway.  Stair risers are set at an angle to make step wider.  Located beside chimney.  Wooden pegs show in attic as do pine heart poles used on roof in place of lathes to hold shingles.
