Victoria Lee Sanderlin, d/o Thomas M. Sanderlin & Civility Owens, married James Webster "Webb" Ambrose in East Lake on Jan. 26, 1898.  James was the son of Woodson S. Ambrose & Elizabeth "Betsy" Arnold.  According to his death certificate, he is buried in the East Lake Baptist Church Cemetery but a 1997 survey of that cemetery yielded no tombstone for him.  James & Victoria had the following known children:

1) Andrew Lee Ambrose (1898-1967) married Nancy Adeline "Dixie" Smith
2) Herbert Milton Ambrose (1900-1939) never married
3) Ella Elizabeth Ambrose (1903-1983) married Benjamin Nathan Basnight in Pasquotank Co. in 1928.  They are buried in Westlawn Cemetery in Elizabeth City, Pasquotank Co., NC.
4) Emma Lillian Ambrose (1905-1975 see death certificate) married Delaware Alston Sawyer circa 1929.  They are buried in New Hollywood Cemetery in Elizabeth City, Pasquotank Co., NC.
5) George Washington Ambrose (1907-1992) never married.  [see obituary]
