Charles Aldredge Hooper

This photograph was made circa 1942 in Stumpy Point when Dad was about 12 years old.  It's the earliest photo we have of him.  My father was born January 12, 1930 to Herbert Edward Hooper & Ada Jones Midgett.  He died November 17, 1998, in Manassas, VA.   He grew up in Stumpy Point and moved to Alexandria, Va. with his mother and siblings in 1946 (after his father died).   That's where he met my mother, Barbara Ann White, whom he married on December 23, 1950.   She was a native of Alexandria, Va.   They had three daughters, Linda, Tracy, and Terry.  My mother was born Feb. 23, 1929 and died on January 30, 2005. Both are buried in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, Va.  My father worked his entire career in steel fabrication, fabricating large girders for bridges and buildings including the World Trade Center.   They lived the rest of their lives in Northern Virginia but he never forgot where he was from.  He loved the Outer Banks, something he passed on to his daughters.
