Left - Madeline Force (Quidley) Williams, daughter of Ernest Brown Quidley & Missouri James Gray, was born in Avon on Jan. 9, 1912. She married Walter Delmer Williams in Hatteras on Feb. 24, 1933. She died Jan. 29, 1990 and is buried in Hilltop Cemetery in Colington, NC. Walter & Madeline had 5 children: Walter David, Ernest Thomas, Janice Irene, and Cora Christine Williams.

Ernest & Missouri ware buried in the Melson Cemetery in Colington. Right: Benjamin Dough Pugh, Jr. was born Jan. 29, 1900 & died Dec. 8, 1985 and is buried in the Meekins Cemetery in Colington.

Leonard Adolphus O'Neal, son of John C. O'Neal & Martha M. Crank, was born Sept. 10, 1916 & died May 25, 1989. He married Thelma Virginia Hubbard on Feb. 4, 1939. Leonard & Thelma have plots in Hilltop Cemetery. |

Janice Irene Williams, the daughter of Walter D. & Madeline (Quidley) Williams, was born Dec. 1, 1941. She married Henry Norman O'Neal in Kitty Hawk on Nov. 18, 1964. Janice is the mother of our submitter. |

Mitchell Jenson Gray was born to Joseph Mitchell Gray & Mary Margaret Austin in Avon on Jan. 14, 1904. He married Eva Mae Scarborough (1905-1971) in Manteo on Jan. 15, 1924. Mitchell & Eva are buried in the Gray Cemetery in Avon. |
Ida Marie (Gard) Butler, daughter of George Ellard Gard & Jenny (Perry) Gard Beasley, was born Sept. 10, 1921 & died July 27, 1996 in Elizabeth City, NC. She married Julius Riddick Butler. They are both buried in the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Manns Harbor. Ida was a half-sister of Walter Delmer Williams. |
Her obituary reads: Hazel Smith McLean, 91, of Harbinger, died December 25, 1996 in Charlotte. She was a native of Currituck County and was the daughter of the late George Washington & Margaret Owens Smith and the widow of James Melvin McLean, Sr. A former school teacher, she retired after 32 years with the Dare County School System. She was a graduate of East Carolina University, a member of Powells Point Christian Church, Retired School Teachers Association, and Dare Co. Retired School Teachers Association. Surviving are three sons: James Melvin McLean, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., George Russell McLean of Nags Head and Dr. Jonathan Owens McLean of Charlotte; and 6 grandchildren. A funeral service was set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28 at Powells Point Christian Church with the Rev. Brad Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Owens Family Cemetery. Twiford's Memorial Chapel in Elizabeth City was in charge. |
