In the name of God, Amen.

I Isaac C. Meekins of Roanoke Island Dare County being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament

First - I give to my wife Mahala all of my estate for and during her natural life

Second - I give to my Son B.F. Meekins fifty acres of my home place to be laid off from the Sound shore to the main road lying along my Southern line and the North line to be so run from the Sound shore to the main road as to include and embrace fifty acres.

Third - The balance of my lands I give to my daughter Humantha and my son Edward to be equally divided between them

Fourth - I give the ballance of my estate to my three children to be equally divided between them.

Fifth - I hereby appoint my son B.F. Meekins the Executor of this my last will and testament.  This the [blank] day of [blank] 188[blank] (1885).

Signed published and declared to be my last will and testament in the presence of [blank] who attest the same in the presence of and at the request of said testator I.C. Meekins.

        Dare County        }    In the Superior Court
    A paper writing purporting to be the Last will and testament of I.C. Meekins deceased is Exhibited before me, the undersigned Clerk of the Superior Court for said County by B.F. Meekins, the executor therein mentioned and the due execution thereof by the said I.C. Meekins by the oath and examination of Van Buren Etheridge and W.G. Forbes, the subscribing witnesses thereto, who being duly sworn doth depose and say and Each for himself deposeth and saith that he is a subscribing witness to the paper writing now shown him, purporting to be the last will and testament of I.C. Meekins; that the said I.C. Meekins in the presence of this deponent subscribed his name at the end of said paper writing, which is now shown as aforesaid and which bear no date.  And the deponent further saith that the said I.C. Meekins the testator aforesaid did at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid declare the said paper writing so subscribed by him and Exhibited to be his last will and testament and this deponent did thereupon subscribe his name at the end of said will as an attesting witness thereto and at the request and in the presence of the said testator.  And this deponent further saith that at the said time when the said testator subscribed his name to the said last will as aforesaid and at the time of deponents subscribing his name as an attesting witness thereto as aforesaid, the said I.C. Meekins was of sound mind and memory, of full age to execute a will and was not under any restraint to the knowledge, information or belief of this deponent.  And further these deponents say not.

NOTE:  Isaac Chauncey Meekins, son of Daniel Meekins & Esther Mann, was born May 15, 1822 and died Mar. 29, 1885.  He married Mahala Baum before 1850 and they had Benjamin Franklin Meekins (1850-1909), Humantha Chauncey "Puss" Meekins (1859-1889) and Capt. Edward Newton Meekins (c1862-1917) [changed his surname to Macon circa 1905].
