Carrie Morton Cole, 95, a longtime resident of Pickett Rd, and widow of George Pleasant Cole, died Monday.
A native of Person County, she had lived in Durham most of her life. Mrs. Cole was president of Cole Sausage Co., Inc, retiring in 1985. She was the last direct descendant of a Civil War Veteran, being sponsored by M.W. Norfleet Camp 1249 Sons of Confederate Veterans. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Howerton & Bryan Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Section 4. Officiating will be Dr. Andrew Davis. The Family will receive visitors at Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home Tuesday night 6-8 p.m.
