Funeral services for Mrs. Addie McDade George, 63, of 713 Peyton Ave, will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the Sherron Acres Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev Wayne Smith, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The body will remain at the home until moved to the church at 2:30 o’clock to lie in state for one hour prior to the funeral rites.
Active pallbearers will be Lester Guess, Paul McCauley, Lonnie Graves, J J Appel, Robert Goodman and Obie Slaughter.
Honary pallbearers will be W R White, Paul Barker, A R Wilson, W H Freeman, Jimmie Miles and Morris Rogers.
Mrs. George died Friday afternoon at Duke Hospital. She had been a patient at the hospital for the past four weeks after suffering a heart attack.
She was born Nov 19, 1892, in Durham County, daughter of the late Judson and Ellen McDade. She had been a resident of Durham all of her life.
She was married in 1912 to the late Gaston George, who died June 2, 1953, and she was a member of the Sherron Acres Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas J George, Wallace George and Julian George, all of Durham; four daughters, Mrs. Edna Eakes, Mrs. Lois Olive and Mrs. Nita Ketner all of Durham and Mrs. Doris Peterson of Abeline, Tex,; 28 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Lee McDade of Long Island, NY; two sisters, Mrs. T I Eason and Mrs. Ella Foreman, both of Durham and several nieces and nephews.
