Durham Man Loses His Life
Ira McDade killed by a train at Cary
Accident Occurred this morning—remains brought home this afternoon.
Beating railroad trains is dangerous business, and sooner or later most of those who make a practice of such things are either killed or crippled for life. Two accidents of this kind have accurred within two days of each other, in which persons living in this community have lost their lives.
This morning at or near Cary, Ira McDade, of Durham was killed while stealing a ride on a freight train. He was killed outright and his body was considerably mangled.
Deceased was a son of J C McDade and was known to a number of people here. All regret his untimely death, but to some people it was no great surprise, as they knew he sometimes hoboed trains.
The remains of young McDade are expected to arrive in Durham on the 4:45 Southern train this afternoon and the funeral services will likely take place tomorrow, but at what hour cannot now be ascertained.
Accidents like the above very often follow each other fast, as this came close on the heels of the one in which Bud Williams, colored, was killed.
