DURHAM – Mrs. Evie Lou McDade, 89, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at Rose Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. McDade, a life-long resident of Durham, was born in Durham County, the daughter of the late A.B. (Bert) and Hallie Perry. She attended Lowe’s Grove School and was employed by The American Tobacco Company for over 32 years, retiring in 1976. Mrs. McDade was predeceased by her husband Thomas J. “Jeff” McDade. Mrs. McDade was a member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, L.J. McDade and wife, Bettie; and one granddaughter, Jennifer McDade of Durham.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 5, 2004, at 11 a.m., at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff McCarthy. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Church Cemetery in Hillsborough.
The family will be at the home of a son, L.J. McDade of 3823 Cole Mill Rd. and will receive visitors Sunday evening, from 7 to 9.
