Harnett County Will Book 1 pp 71-73

I Andrew J Turlington of the County of Harnett and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory 
but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and ordain this my last will and Testimony 
in manner and form following, that is to say,
1st That my executors hereinafter named shall provide for my body in decent burial suitable to the wishes 
of  my relations and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with any past debts howsoever and to 
whomsoever owing out of the moneys that may first come into their hands as a part and parcel of my estate.
2nd It is  my will and desire that my beloved wife and son should live agreeable together as we have heretofore.  
But at any time my wife may claim as proper she is to have the right of Dower, with personal property allowed by Law.
3rd I give and bequeath to my son Devereaux Turlington my home place including all the lands conveyed by me to by 
deed subject to my wife's rights.
4th I give and bequeath to J L Coats & wife Nancy Isabella all claims notes and accounts I have against them for 
moneys advanced them to pay for the Lands they now reside on
5th I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Isabella & her heirs the tract of Land known as the Washington Shaw 
Tract for a further description see Deed
6th I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Isabella Coats & her heirs the tract of Land known as the Jacob 
Turlington Tract for a further description see Deed
7th I give and bequeath to my son Devereaux Turlington the house I have from W. B. McKay also the steam engine 
and fixtures Gin & fixtures and buildings
8th I give and bequeath to my son Devereaux Turlington all my personal property including all Engines Bailers 
Mills, mules cattle hogs sheep including all live stock notes bonds accounts money on hand Household & Kitchen 
furniture Provisions, But he may provide for my wife And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Devereaux 
Turlington and my son in Law J. T. Coats my lawfull executors to all intents and purposes to execute this my last 
will & Testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby 
revoking and declaring utterly void all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made

In witness thereof I the said Andrew J. Turlington do hereunto set my hand and seal this 5th day of June A.D. 1897.

Signed and published and declared by the said Andrew J Turlington to be his last Will & Testament in the presence 
of us who at his request and in his presence do subscribe our names as witnesses thereto.

Exhibited in Harnett County Superior court by Devereaux Turlington and J. T. Coats the executors within named & 
proved in court by oath of L. L. Turlington and B. F. Shaw subscribing witnesses 1 Jul 1897 before F. M. McKay, clerk.
