In Honor of Those Who Came Before Us

Joshua Henry and Martha Ann "Mattie" Leatherwood Allison
The Ones Who Came Before Us
<<<Joshua Henry Allison
Martha Ann Allison>>>
As a gentle breeze blew the mist up from the valleys and the morning sun burned it away, the faithful gathered once again to honor our ancestors. To mow, clean, maintain, and decorate the cemetery which contains the graves of those who came before us and made us who we are.

To our pleasant surprise, we found that both parts of the cemetery, and the roadside leading to it, were already neatly mowed and trimmed. Many hours of hard work had already been done due to the dedication of Dick Jones. He did a wonderful job. Dick is greatly appreciated by all of us and, I’m sure, by the ancestors.

Men and women, who had arrived with pickups full of mowers, weedeaters, and all necessary maintainence tools, quickly set to work installing a gate between the used and unused portions of the cemetery.

The gate which was installed, between the used part of the cemetery and the unused part, was provided, at no charge to the cemetery fund, by Ms. Dorothy Jean Hall. Thank you Dottie!

Just as we were contemplating the food shortage and an emergency run to Kentucky Fried Chicken, Arnold Allison brought out the food his wife had prepared. We are all appreciative of the meal which Arnold and his wife provided. It was perfect!
