Unknown World War I Soldier

I believe I fought in the US Army during World War I ... can't remember. At one time someone loved me and placed my portrait in an oval frame with convex glass. I know this because of the particular bend in my picture. The size is approximately 19 ½ inches x 12 ½ inches. An artistic decoration surrounding me depicts the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War I. Directly beneath my picture is a shield with the words, 'Spirit of '76 & '18'. The artist has signed my portrait with the initials, 'JK'.

My descendant may have been a doctor in Hoke County sometime around 1923. You can't see my wire-rimmed glasses here, but you can click on my photo and see a 'computer-cleaned' close-up of me. Perhaps you will recognize me then. I hope so.
