AN OCTOGENARIAN GONE
Mrs. Eliza Blue, wife of Mr. N. McK. Blue died July 2nd, in the 83rd year of her age
She died near the place of her birth, not far from "Piney Bottom," of Revolutionary
noteriety,in the home where she presided as wife and mother of three-score years.
Mrs. B. was of Scotch extraction, the daughter of the late Col. Daniel Smith; her
maternal connectionwere the McKays of Long Street ... The mother of ten children,
six sone and four daughtersall of whom survive her but one, she saw them all grown
up to maturity, settled in life, and all hopefully converted. Her epitaph is written
in the lives of her children, whom she trained in the principles of religion, honor
and honesty, and to promote the cause of Christ on the earth... Her children and her
grandchildren rise up and call her blessed! ... Thus has passed away an "old disciple.quot;
venerated and loved.

Her venerable husband waits behind (it will not be long). Burdened with years and great
bodily weakness, he is bereft indeed,but patient withal. Gladly would he welcome the hour
of reunion "beyond the river," which shall end his sorrows and complete his joy.
