St. Mary's County in Maryland: These may certify whom it may concern that about the year of our Lord 1737 John DIALL & Sarah SHIRLY was duly married by me and that he lived with his said wife about three years and then left here. Given my hand this 26th day of July, 1748. Signed: Lawrence DeBUTT. Rector of William & Mary Parish in St. Mary's County. Wit: George CLARK.
St. Mary's County in Maryland: July 26, 1748. Then came before me one of his Lordship's Justices of the peace for this county Lawrence DeBUTT, Rector of William & Mary Parish in the County & made Oath on the Holy Evangelists that the within mentioned Marriage between John DIALL & Sarah his wife was solemnized by him. Sworn before me. Signed: George CLARKE. These may certify that the afsd. Certificate & Proof was recorded the 21 Oct. 1748.
St. Mary's County in Maryland. Abraham BRADEN, aged 25 years or thereabouts, being sworn on the Holy Evangelist, deposeth and sayeth that he was personally acquainted with Sarah DIALL, both in her former husband Shirley's time and likewise in John DIALL's Time and that he saw her alive and well about the Second day of last August. Sworn before one of his Lordship's Justices of the peace for St. Mary's County, this 26th day of July 1748. Signed: George CLARKE. Regt: 21 Oct. 1748.

Likewise William HILTON, aged 19 or thereabouts, being sworn on the Holy Evangelist, deposeth & sayeth, that he in company with Abraham BRADEN saw Sarah DIALL, the wife of John DIALL, alive & well about the Second day of August last. Sworn before me one of his Lordship's Justices of the peace for St. Mary's County this 26th day of July 1748. Signed: George CLARKE. Regt: 21 July 1748.
North Carolina, Perquimans County. WILLIAM MAGOWNE of sd. Parish & Province, Planter, aged about 40 years, being sworn on the Holy Evangelist, deposeth & saith that he knew Law. DeBUTT, rector of William & Mary Parish in St. Mary's County in Maryland was Rector there when he left Maryland & had been so for many years before & also that he knew George CLARKE to be one of the Eldest Justices in that County & further saith that he verily believed the sd. John DIALL now here in this County of Perquimans & mentioned in the Certificate from Maryland under the hand of the abovesaid DeBUTT dated 26th day of July 1748 to be the very same John DIALL that married Sarah SHIRLY mentioned in the said Certificate. Taken on Oath before me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the said County this 2 Aug. 1748. Signed: William MAGOWNE. Wit: Tho. Weeks. Regt: 21 July 1748 at the Request of Thos. MEADS.

John REED of John's Parish, County & Province afsd., aged 39 years, being sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God, deposeth and Saith, that he the said John REED, after his arrival in Maryland which was in the year 1739, personally knew and was conversant with the Revd. Lawrence DeBUTT, being hired by sd. M. DeBUTT to teach his son, now decd., doth declare the Certificate now in the possession of Thomas MEADS & shown to me before Robert LOWRY, Esqr. to be the handwriting of the sd. Revd. DeBUTT & that the said John DIALL mentioned in the said Certificate & John DIALL now dwelling in North Carolina, is the Self same persons & further the sd. REED doth declare that to the best of his Knowledge the said Certificate if Witnessed by the handwriting of Col. George CLARKE of St. Mary's County, Maryland, August the 6th 1748. Then personally appeared before me the within mentioned John REED & made Oath to the above Declaration August the 6th 1748.
