NOTES: At the afe of about four years, Bryant traveled with 
his father's family from Hyde Co., NC to White Co., TN in 
1819.  There he later married and began raising a family of 
his own.  His son Amos fought in the Civil War.  By 1870, 
Bryant was moving his family from White County to join the 
McGowens who had settled in Missouri (the wife and children 
of Bryant's brother Amos McGowen who had settled in Wright 
Co., MO by 1850).  About half way there, they stopped in 
Caldwell Co., KY to spend the winter. Bryant rented a farm 
and they planted a crop of tobacco to finance continuing their 
journey.  Then, because one of their sons married and settled 
there, Rebecca refused to travel on.  So the rest of the family 
settled there too and Bryant bought a farm in Harmony Twsp.  
Bryant died there in 1899 and Rebecca had died a few years 
previously.  They are buried in the Lance Nichols Cemetery 
located in between Princeton and Dawson Springs, KY.  
Bryant's headstone was chisled by his son Amos.  Bryant 
and Rebecca McGowen were the parents of five sons and 
three daughters.

bring Celia back to Caldwell Co., KY.

1880's, Amos fathered a son, Ollie C. Pollard, mother's name 
unknown, out of wedlock.  Family tradition says that Ollie 
moved to West Franklin, Franklin Co., Illinois, where he 
operated an Emporium and became quite successful.  Amos and 
his 2nd wife Sarah Frances were parents of eight children.
