McGowan (1868-bef.1896) died from Bilbous Fever. In 1857, Sylvester McGowan was accused of being the father of a bastard child by Hetty Caroline (Swindell?) Cutrell. In 1871, Sylvester McGowan filed a claim with the Southern Claims Commission for damages done to his property by the Union Army. He received partial payment of his claim.
