VanHORN, Carolyn Patchin
SCRANTON - Carolyn Patchin VanHORN, 59, died Thursday night, September 13 at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington, N.C. Born in East Orange, N.J. July 12, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Katherine Mueller Patchin. She was married to Wallace Brush VanHorn. She and her husband moved to Hyde County from Marlboro, N.J. in 1988 and had operated Bay Side Marina in the Germantown community since that time. Surviving are her husband; a son, Randy J. VanHorn of Washington; a daughter, Sherry V. Jarvis of Scranton; and 5 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eunice Chapel Church of Christ. Phil Emmert will officiate. VanKESTEREN, Dorothy Mae Forbes
OCRACOKE - Dorothy Mae Forbes VANKESTEREN, 73, of Ocracoke, died April 22 in her residence. Mrs. VanKesteren was born in Ocracoke and was a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late Irving and Alma Bragg Forbes and the wife of Frederick Van Kesteren of the home. Besides her husband, surviving are three daughters: Kelly Ann VanKesteren of Ocracoke, Dorothy VanKesteren of Huntingon, L.I., N.Y., and Gail Seigal of Manorville, L.I., N.Y.; seven sons: Fred Van Kesteren of Laurinburg, Gary Van Kesteren of Shorcham, L.I., N.Y., Edward Van Kesteren of Port Jefferson, L.I., N.Y., John Van Kesteren of Deer Park, L.I., N.Y., Douglas Van Kesteren of Centereach, L.I., N.Y., Jeffrey Van Kesteren of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Gregory Van Kesteren of Greenport, L.I., N.Y.; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, April 25, in the Ocracoke United Methodist Church, with burial following in the Ocracoke Community Cemetery. VanKESTEREN, Frederick
OCRACOKE - Frederick VanKESTEREN died Sunday, February 16 in Wilmington. Mr. VanKesteren, born in Brooklyn, N.Y., was a retired truck driver for McLean Dock & Stone Company and was a Catholic. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was the son of the late Frederick Samuel and Catherine Kavanaugh VanKesteren and the husband of the late Dorothy Mae Forbes VanKesteren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Edward VanKesteren. He is survived by three daughters: Kellie V. Mugford of Frisco, Kay V. Johnson of Huntington, Long Island, N.Y., and Gail V. Seigal of Manorville, N.Y.; six sons: Fred VanKesteren of Clio, S.C., Gary VanKesteren of Shoreham, Long Island, N.Y., John VanKesteren of Deer Park, N.Y., Jeffrey Van Kesteren of Rocky Point, N.Y., Gregory VanKesteren of Greenport, N.Y. and Douglas VanKesteren of Centereach, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Ocracoke United Methodist Church on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Joyce Reynolds and the Rev. Deacon Donald Wobser. VanSALISBURY, Hannah Georgianna
ENGELHARD - Hannah Georgianna VanSALISBURY, age 5, died Wednesday, December 8, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. A graveside service was December 11 at 11 a.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church Cemetery at Lake Landing in Hyde County with the Rev. James H. Lupton officiating. Surviving are her mother, Claudia D. Van Salisbury of Engelhard; her father, Charles R. Van Salisbury of Engelhard; three sisters: Angel Ann, Kimberly Ann, and Addie May, all of Engelhard; paternal grandparents, Geraldine G. Stevenson of Fellsmere, Florida and Charles R. Van Salisbury of Aurora; paternal great-grandmother, Nanetta Van Salisbury of Keansburg, N.J.; great-aunt and uncle, Mary Lou and Jack Leonard of Kill Devil Hills; and several aunts and uncles. Hannah was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George and Patricia R. Desposito. Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service in Swan Quarter.
