Nathaniel Jarvis
(June 16, 1826 - August
17, 1896)
Nathaniel Jarvis was the son of Sylvester Jarvis (ca.1792-1862) and Annis Gibbs (ca. 1801-ca. 1850's). On August 25, 1853 he married Perlina T. "Lina" Midyett (1835-Jan. 6, 1894), daughter of John Midyett and Elizabeth "Betsy" Jarvis. They had five known children. He served in the Confederate Army from Hyde Co. where he enlisted in Co. "H", 33rd regiment as a private on October 17, 1861 and was promoted to Corporal [Moore's Roster states Sergeant; N.C. Troops states Corporal] in September 1863. He was wounded in the right leg at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia on May 12, 1864. He was living in Swan Quarter Township when the 1880 census was taken.
