Louisanna (Boomer)
Jennette
(July 24, 1851 - April
7, 1955)
Louisanna Boomer Jennette, daughter of Samuel Gibbs Boomer and Frances B. Weston, was born July 24, 1851. A Methodist all her life, she was married April 11, 1877, to William Shaw Jennette by Reverend James M. Watson. Of this union, five children were born. Each one married a Hyde County native. Warren Shaw married Sally Carter of Fairfield, Lawrence Boomer married Alice Gibbs of Middletown, Jones Samuel married Lillie Belle Mann of Middletown, Annie Laurie married Otis Carl Fulford of Engelhard, and Lydia Lee married Samuel Dill Mann of Middletown.
Mrs. Jennette, affectionately known as "Miss Lutie", spent most of her one hundred and four years in Hyde County where she was known for her hospitality and entertaining at the old Jennette home. Having lived through five wars, she saw history in the making and possessed a world of wisdom. "To know her was to love her", and all agree she was a great lady. She died at her home April 7, 1955, and was buried at Amity Church.
