If you can identify any of the persons in

This great photograph was found in the Alton Warren Payne Collection and was housed in an envelope dated June 29, 1975 or 1976 (the year was hard to read). The envelope had two 10 cents stamps attached and was addressed to Alton W. Payne from the d'Amours Studio in Manteo, N.C. |
This photograph was submitted by Audrey Johnson Lambert who states that this unidentified picture came from a collection of photos of the Boomer and Weston families of Hyde County. |
This family photograph was submitted by Audrey Johnson Lambert who states that this picture came from a collection of photos of the Boomer and Weston families of Hyde County. Audrey states that none of the people are verified but bottom row 1st person (with dog) could be Hurley Weston, 2nd person _____ Pugh. Back row, last man on right, could be Charley Weston. (between bald man and woman). |

Because this photograph was made in panoramic format it had to be split in two with some of the people overlapping in both parts. It was also torn on the right side and looked as if there could have been other people in this tour group. The caption reads "Sunday Schools of Washington, N.C. at Mt. Vernon, Va. June 14 [year torn away]". This photo, among many others, was found in the attic of Hattie Bell Watson Lesko by Lillian Masch who so graciously submitted them. Hattie Bell Watson Lesko lived in Swan Quarter so Lillian assumed other members in the picture are from Hyde as well. The only person that Lillian's mother could identify in the above photo was the lady on the front row extreme right in the bottom picture right before the tear--this was Hattie Bell Watson Lesko. |
This picture was taken from the Hyde Co. History book published in 1976. There was no caption under the photo and the editors did not know who he was On close inspection of the photo I noticed what looked like the initials A.M. or A.W. embroidered on his collar. Perhaps this will supply a clue to his identity. |
These two great paintings were submitted by Paula Marie Chalk Schreiber whose great-aunt, Gladys Ballance Davis, identified the above as Ballance's but first names eluded her. |
