The Williamson home was built either by Tully Williamson (1821-1869), or his son George Washington Williamson (1860-1936). The house is located in the Juniper Bay area beside Juniper Bay Canal, which led from Mattamuskeet Lake to Juniper Bay.
You will notice the "Widow's Walk" at the pinnacle of the roof. From there womenfolk could look out over Juniper Bay to see their men returning from a day's fishing or a trip to Little Washington or New Bern.
It was also the birthplace of our web host, John B. McGowan (now deceased).
