Joseph Masters Watson
Joseph Masters Watson was born February 26, 1837 in Hyde Co., NC and died November 22, 1904 in Hyde County. He was the son of William Watson and Sarah "Sally" Weston. Joseph Masters Watson first married Lina Watson who died within a year after their marriage. No children are known from this union. He then married Lina's younger sister, Elisha Ann Burrus (March 1835 - Oct. 19, 1896), daughter of Elisha Burrus and Elizabeth "Betsy" Credle. Joseph Masters Watson and Elisha Ann Burrus Watson are both buried in the Credle-Mann-Watson Cemetery in the Swan Quarter Twp. of Hyde County. To this union were born the following children:
- Aleph Evelyn "Lina" Watson born October 1, 1863 and died November 27, 1946. Aleph married Milton Selby Credle, Sr. (Mar. 25, 1862 - May 25, 1933) on December 19, 1883. Milton and Aleph are both buried in the Credle-Mann-Watson Cemetery in the Swan Quarter Twp. of Hyde County.
- William "Willie" Watson
- Magnolia May "Nolia" Watson was born August 31, 1868 and died January 3, 1956. She married Samuel Spencer Mann (Apr. 3, 1867 - Sept. 10, 1940) on June 7, 1891. Samuel and Nolia are both buried in the Credle-Mann-Watson Cemetery.
- Romulus Saunderson Watson was born April 30, 1870 and died June 5, 1941. He married Ruby Tunnell. Romulus S. Watson is buried in Soule Cemetery in Hyde County.
