JACKSON

Judy Jackson Scovronski - March 15, 2004

Looking for the JACKSONS that started out in the Beaufort/Hyde precinct abt 1716 and eventually leave Beaufort for Washington Co. NC sometime between 1840 and 1850. My basic info shows an Isaac JACKSON in the Beaufort/Hyde precinct and had a will dated 1716, followed by Thomas, then another Isaac, then Eleazer (believe the move from Hyde to Beaufort took place with Eleazer - he was born prior to 1790), then another Isaac, then Levi JACKSON (born 1805 and who appears in the 1850 Washington Co. census). Levi had a son, William Henry JACKSON, who married Elizabeth COLLINS and I descend from their line. Anyone out there have info on this line of JACKSONS? I especially find the name "Eleazer" fascinating and want to know more. Thanks!

JARVIS / LACY

Cheryl (Lacy) Cudney April 29, 2001

Hi, From records of the Lacy Cemetery in Madison Co. TN and elsewhere - we believe that we have found that our ancestor Parker LACY/LACEY may have come from Hyde Co., NC. Mr. Odell SPAIN has ancestors living on Parker LACEY land in old records. He has also told me that he had JARVIS people in his line. There are five JARVIS people in the Lacy Cemetery and in an old letter that my grandfather wrote thirty years ago he states that those buried in the cemetary are our immediate family. The earliest JARVIS listed is: Samuel Hilliard JARVIS: born - Oct. 28m 1866; died - Dec. 4, 1934, and his wife: Carrie May (BROWN) JARVIS: born - Jan. 23, 1880; died - Jan. 14, 1974. I have found a marrriage record for them in Crockett Co., TN. I was just wondering if any of the names on this list sound familiar to you - we are looking for the connection to our family. Thanks.

LANGLEY / BRINN

Diane Schlegel November 9, 2000

MEDICAL NEED: Attempting to find information on my great-grandmother, Elizabeth LANGLEY, possibly from Beaufort County/Pantego area (b. 1862, d. 1942). She married Stephen Sanford BRINN, Hyde County (b. 1858, d. 1929). I have a lot of information on the BRINN line but absolutely no information beyond the name, birth and death date of Elizabeth LANGLEY. Some male descendents of Stephen BRINN have been diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa - a gentic eye disease, primarily striking male children and the carrier is the mother. It is suspected the gene entered our family through Elizabeth LANGLEY. By trying to get information from Elizabeth LANGLEY's line and particularly from her mother and great grandmother, it may help us to see the pattern of the disease. Thank you!

LEATH / LEITH

Cheryl Huff

I would like to correcpond with anyone who is researching the LEITH / LEATH family. John LEITH shows up in the 1800 Census for Hyde County. James J. LEITH was a captain of Co. B 17 Reg. NCST in the Civil War. John LEATH left a will in 1752 which is recorded in Craven Co. Deed BK 5/228. John LEATH, Sr. left a will in 1751 which is also recorded in Craven Co. Deed Bk. 5/181. Richard LEATH, Sec. of State, left a will which was exhibited by his wife Mary LEATH in 1749. Can anyone look up these records for me? Thanks.

LEATH / LEITH / HODGES / MIDYETT

Jim Spencer July 27, 2003

Looking for information on William T. LEITH/LEATH of Hyde County, especially regarding any children.  Based on his estate records, William died between March and August 1824, but there is no indication of his age.  Possible relatives of William include Thomas LEITH (deceased - father/uncle?), James LEITH, Samuel LEITH (brother?), John R. LEITH (brother?) and Charles J.(?) LEITH, so information on them would also be helpful.
Also interested in Wilson B. HODGES, who filed papers and bond in August 1824 to be the administrator for William: who were members of Wilson's family (in case he is related to William by marriage)?
Finally, which Bannister MIDYETT (shown as Justice of the Peace on other documents) is the co-signer to the administrator bond?  Again, who are the members of Bannister's family in case he is related to William by marriage?  [Bannister appears to be married to William's sister or widow, and is found listed as party to or JP on documents through 1848.] I have not been able to find census records or other information on the families of William or Wilson.  Thanks!

LINTON / SWINDELL

Harriette Harris Riggs June 16, 2003

My husband, William H. RIGGS had an ancestor Isaac W. SWINDELL who was married twice, 1st to a Mary?, 2nd to Esther LINTON, possibly daughter of Luke LINTON. Beaufort County Will Abstracts by Camin lists the will of Luke LINTON who had a wife, Easter and a daughter, Easter. Also a will of Miles PIERCE lists a daughter, Esther Linton, so these are newly found surnames and would appreciate any information about these families.
