Hezekiah Arnold - 1849

Nov. 26, 1849 - Administrator's bond for $2200 signed by Samuel S. Simmons, adm'r. on the estate of Hezekiah Arnold, and David Carter & Thos. R. Gibbs, his securities.

Nov. Term 1849 - Julia Arnold, widow of Hezekiah Arnold, petitions the Court of her one years provision.  She states that her husband died intestate.  /s/ J. Spencer, Solicitor

Feb. 1850 - Commissioners set off to Julia Arnold her one year provision.  Commissioners allotted her one bed and furniture worth $15.00 and $150.00 in cash to be paid by the adm'r.

April 5, 1850 - Summons to the Sheriff of Hyde County to have Samuel S. Simmons, adm'r. of the estate of Hezekiah Arnold to pay the sum of $7.35 to his widow.

May 23, 1850 - Sheriff's summons in the matter of William J. Smith vs S.S. Simmons, adm'r., of Hezekiah Arnold.  Simmons is to appear in Court to answer to William J. Smith of a plea that he render the sum of $150.00 which he owes and detains to his damages of $50.00.

Aug. Term 1850 - In obedience to an order at Nov. Term 1849, Samuel S. Simmons, adm'r. of the estate of Hezekiah Arnold sold on Dec. 22, 1849 at Fairfield, two Negroes, Hetty & Charles for $565.00 and Mariah for $210.00 whereon William Arnold became the purchaser.

Sept. 6, 1850 - The Court orders Samuel S. Simmons to sell Negroe S____.
