In the Name of God Amen. I, Thomas Fodderra of the State of North Carolina & County of Hyde, Being very Weke in Body though of Sound Disposing Mind & memory, Calling to mind the Mortallity of My body knowing that it is Apointed once for all Flesh to Dye. I Do make this Instrument of Wrighting to Contain my Last will & testament in manner as followeth. Principel and first of all I Recommend my Sole into the hands of the Living [God who] Gave it & my Body to be Desently Buryed in A Christian Like manner in Some Convenient place at the Descretion of my Executors & as tuching my Worldly property what it hath plesed God to bless me with far Above my Desirts I Despose of as followeth.
itam: I gave to my Beloved wife Betsy Fodderra one hundred acres of Land where Ii know live with all the Improvements and one Neagro man by the name of peter Dureing her Naturl Life or Widowhood and at her Derth or Marrage I gave the Same Land and improvements to my Son Hugh Foddary to him & his Heirs for Ever and the nagro Man peter to my Daughter Charaty Midyett. I allso gave to my Daughter Charaty midyett two Cows & Calfs.
Itam: I gave to my Son in Law John Burres two dollars to be pade him at my Decest.
Itam: I allso gave to my Son in Law Joel Poyner two dollars to be pade him at my Decest.
Itam: i gave unto my five Daughters Charaty Midyett, Brittania Foddary, Christian Foddary, Sallay Foddarra, & Lucrecy Foddary Three Hundred & Thirty-Six acres of Land Laying up Swanquarter bay to be Equelly Devided Among my Above named Daughters. It is allso my will and Desire at the Dearth or Marage of my Wife that my four feathers beads be Devided among My four youngest Daughters Britaina Foddary, Christian Foddary, Sallay Foddary, & Lucrecy Foddary.
Itam: I allso gave unto my Grand Daughter Zilpha Burrus one Heffer.
Itam: it is my will and Desier that all the Rest of my Property in Doors and out Dors to be Equelly Devided Among My five youngest Children, Hugh Foddary, Brittaina Foddary, Christianna Foddary, & Lucrecy Foddary. I Do hereby Acknolege this to be My Last will & testament Revoking all other Wills me mad heretofore.
I Do hereby Constitute make and Apoint My Son Hugh Foddarry & Robert Midyett My Lawful Executors to this my Last Will & testament.

The execution of the last will & testament above of Thomas Fodderay was proved in open Court in due form of law as well for passing lands as personal estate, & ordered to be recorded.
/s/ R.M.G.. Moore, Clk[NOTE: Thomas Fodery was listed in the 1792 Tax List living in the Southern Dist. of Mattamuskeet having 1 white poll, 1 black poll and 150 acres of land. In the 1800 census he was listed as Thomas Foddry over 45 years of age. In January 1815 he acquired Negro man Peter from Mary, Richard & Christopher Midyett, children of Christopher & Mary Midyett
