Transcriber’s Comments.

No date is provided, and I am guessing at the time period. The record is in Henry Cansler’s handwriting, and he was Clerk of County Court from September 1837 to June 1844. Cansler’s undated compilation groups the companies of Kincaid, Lenhardt, and Randleman which implies that all three date the same tax year.

Some of these taxpayers were in Burnet’s 1836 company, Hamton’s 1836 company, Rutledge’s 1836 company, and Crouse’s 1837 company.

There is no reference to Randleman’s company in county court minutes up through 1842. This, however, is not a reliable benchmark because the minutes do not name every extant company in any one year.

If a researcher is able to more closely date the list through knowledge of when a citizen reached taxable age (21 years), moved away, or died, please let me know so that the list can be more accurately dated for other researchers.
