SOLOMAN, witness to the conveyance of a deed of property. Edgecombe County, NC.  2 March 1772.  DB 3, page 9. THOMAS LEWIS & wife LIDDIA LEWIS to WILLIAM LEWIS, all of Edgecombe County, two tracts totally 300 acres first on the south side of Sapony Swamp adjoining the dividing line between CANNADY and STEPHENS, brought by THOMS LEWIS from WILLIAM POPE and the second on the north side of Sapony Creek adjoining JOHN SHEPHERD.  Witnesses:  DAVID PRIDGEN, JESSE PRIDGEN, and SOLOMAN BATCHELOR.

EDWARD AND wife PATHELLA, grantors.  Chowan County, NC.  4 January 1706/07.  DB W#1, page 100.  EDWARD and wife PATHELLA BATCHELOR [spelled Bachellor] to FRANK JOHNSON grant a tract where they currently live near Scuperlung River adjoining the land of EDWARD PHELPS.  Witness: GODFRED SPRUILL

WILLIAM, grantee.  Edgecombe County, NC.  14 Feb. 1777.  DB3, page 166. WILLIAM HORN to WILLIAM BATCHELOR, both of Edgecombe County, NC, for 133/6/8 for a tract of 200 acres on the north bank of Stony Creek at mouth of O’Neal’s Branch adjoining the land of WILLIAM BARNES and JOEL PITMAN, it being a tract that WILLIAM HORN bought from BENJAMIN O’NEAL and WILLIAM HORN bought of WILLIAM PITMAN.  Witnesses: JACOB HORN, JOEL PITMAN.

STEPHEN, and wife MARGARET, grantors.  Nash County, NC.  1 July 1777.  DB 1, page 125.  STEPHEN BATCHELOR, and wife MARGARET sell to JOHN WARREN, all of Nash County, NC, 40 acres on the south side of the Great Sappony Swamp.

SOLLOMAN and SARAH of Bute County, NC, grantors to SAMUEL of Nash County, NC.  Nash County, NC.  5 January 1778.  DB 1, page 35.  SOLLOMAN and SARAH BACHELOR of Bute County, NC to SAMUEL BACHELOR.  120 acres on south side of Henrick’s Branch.  Witnesses:  MATTIAS MANNING and JESSE PRIDGEON.

WILLIAM, hand to build road from JACOB HORNES’ to COL. HUNTER. Nash County, NC. April, 1778. Ordered that NICHOLAS SHERMAN be appointed overseer of the road leading from JACOB HORNES’ to COL. THOMAS HODGES and wife, SARAH HODGES, of Edgecombe County, NC to JOHN BATCHELOR of Norfolk County, Virginia.  3000 pounds for a tract of 200 acres on the south bank of Fishing Creek adjoining the land of WILLIAM NELMS and SESSUMS.  Witnesses: ISAAC SESSUMS and WILLIAM COTTON, SENIOR

JOHN, grantee.  Edgecombe County, NC.  23 March 1780.  DB E, page 85. RICHARD SHIP & wife FRANCES SHIP to JOHN BATCHELOR, all of Edgecombe County, NC, in consideration of three negroes to be delivered, 200 acres on the south bank of Fishing Creek adjoining EPHRAIM DICKEN, ELIZABETH HORN, WILLIAM PRICE, JACOB SESSUMS, and THOMAS HODGES, the land originally part of a survey of 620 acres to  THOMAS PRICE. BATCHELOR, (surname only as adjoining land owner).  Nash County, NC.  28 November 1782.  DB 1, pages 209 – 210. THOMAS WARRING  to RICHARD BURGE 265 acres on Henrich Branch adjoining BATCHELOR’s line.  Witnesses:  THOMAS CARTER and SOLOMAN CARTER.

THOMAS, witness.  Edgecombe County, NC.  24 Feb. 1783.  DB E, page 247.  RICHARD SARSNETT, and wife HENRITTA SARSNETT to BARTHOLOMEW KELLY, all of Edgecombe County, NC, 100 acres on the north side of Beaver Dam Branch adjoining ROBERT HUMPHREY and WILLIAM MACE, land first granted to SARSNETT by patent on 10 December 1778.  Witnesses: MALACHI MAUND and WILLIAM BATCHELOR.

WILLIAM, adjoining land owner.  Edgecombe County, NC.  26 May 1783.  DB E, page 429. WILLIAM NELMS and wife MARTHA of Onslow County, NC to JACOB SESSUMS of Edgecombe County, NC 275 acres on the west side of Fishing Creek adjoining the land of JACOB SESSUMS, COL. ISAAC SESSUMS, and WILLIAM BATCHELOR, land that NELMS leased to WILLIAM HOUSTON for twenty-one years.  Witnesses::  JOHN STARKEY, BRIDGER JONES, and EDWARD STARKEY.  MARTHA NELMS examined separately concerning her right of dower.

WILLIAM BATCHELOR and wife MARY sell FOR 666/13/4 to RICHARD SHIP 450 acres on south bank of Fishing Creek adjoining the land of HORN, WILLIAM PRICE, JACOB SESSUMS, THOMAS HODGE, and said SHIP.  Witness:  MICAJAH LITTLE.  MARY BATCHELOR was examined separately concerning her right of dower.

WILLIAM, grantee.  Nash County, NC.  4 Sept. 1785.  DB3, page 160. STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA to WILLIAM BATCHELOR of Nash County for the sum of 50 shillings for every 100 acres is granted 110 acres on both sides of the Sappony “beginning at a sweet gum on Henry Branch in BENJAMIN’S BUNN’s line then running north 34 poles to a black oak in BATCHELOR’s own line, then east in BATCHELOR’s line 160 poles to his corner; a pine in his corn field; then north his other line 88 poles to a sweet gum, then east 56 poles to a white oak on the north side of the Sappony in JOHN MANNING’s line; then south along said line 10 poles to his corner white oak, then east MANNING’s other line 20 poles to a white oak then south across and down the meanders of the Sappony, 118 poles to a blackgum on Gabe’s Branch, BENJAMIN BUNN’s line then along Bunn’s line the various meanders of Gabe and Henry Branches to the first station.

WILLIAM DANCY to JACOB BATTLE, both of Edgecombe County, NC, 266 acres on the north bank of Tar River at the mouth of Beach Run on the west side of said run, it being a patent granted to CHARLES COLEMAN bearing the date of 1745.  Witnesses: WILLIAM BATCHELOR and JACOB SESSUMS.

JOSEPH, witness, Edgecombe County, NC. 22 Feb. 1787. DB 4, page 522. THOMAS MORRISS of Nash County, NC to ELISHA BATTLE of Edgecombe County, NC for 90 pds. Specie one negro boy by name.  Witnesses:  ELISHA BATTLE, JUNIOR and JOSEPH BATCHELOR.

WILLIAM, grantor.  Nash County, NC.  1 January 1788.  DB4, page 46. WILLIAM BATCHELOR of Halifax County, NC to HENRY FREEMAN of Nash County for 105 pounds sells one Negro boy.  Witnesses:  JAMES BRADFORD and JOHN SHEARMAN.

JOHN WHITEHOUSE to WILLIAM BATCHELOR, both of Nash County, $60 for land on the south side of the road from MICAJAH THOMAS’ to WILLIAM RICKS, on Gust Branch adjoining WILLIAM BATCHELOR’S. WITNESSES:  HENRY BUNN and HARDY WHITFIELD.

WILLIAM, seller, Edgecombe County, NC.  6 November 1788.  DB 4, page 736.  WILLIAM BATCHELOR of Halifax County, NC to JOHN GOODMAN of Edgecombe County, NC for 80 pounds sells one Negro girl.  Witnesses:  Benjamin Dickin and David Coffield.

WILLIAM, grantee.  Nash County, NC.  19 January 1793.  DB4, pages 189 – 190. JOHN VICK to WILLIAM BATCHELOR, both of Nash County, sells for $400 two tracts; Tract 1 on south side on Peachtree Creek and Meadow Branch adjoining the land of JESSE THOMAS, MICAJAH THOMAS, WHITFIELD,  and JOHN WHITEHOUSE 200 acres; Tract 2 on the road WILLIAM BATCHELOR’s corner along his line to his corner,a pine on Long Branch in WILLIS WHITFIELD’s line; also adjoining the land of JESSE THOMAS containing 200 acres.  Witnesses: PETER BALLARD and WILSON VICK.

WILLIAM, grantee. Nash County, NC.  14 March 1795.  DB 6, pp.123. THOMAS TUCKER, SR. TO WILLIAM BATCHELOR for 20 pounds Virginia money grants 100 acres on north side of Great Sappony, head of Sikes Branch, adjoining the land of DAVID PRIDGEN, SOLLOMAN COLLINS, and FREDERICK VAUGHN. Witnesses:  ROBERT CREEKMUR and MATTIAS MANNING.  proven November Court, 1795.

BATCHELOR, adjoining land owner.  Edgecombe County, NC.  3 Feb. 1775.  DB 3, page 1. WILLIAM HENDRICK to JAMES DANIEL, both of Edgecombe County, NC, 266 acres on the south side of the Sapony Swamp beinning at an ash in Sapony Branch adjoining the land of BATCHELOR, originally part of a Granville grant to said HENDRICK on 10 August 1762.  Witnesses: WILLIAM BODDIE, NATHAN BODDIE, and ABRAHAM BASS.

WILLIAM, adjoining land owners.  Nash County, NC.  3 Sept. 1795.  DB6, pages 241 – 242. SOLLOMAN COLLINS to ROBERT CREEKMUR, both of Nash County, for 50 pounds 200 acres on the “waters of the Sappony” adjoining the land of NATHAN BODDIE, WILLIAM BATCHELOR, DAVID PRIDGEN, and PETER ETHEREDGE.  Witnesses: PENNY COLLINS, CATEY MANING, and BENJAMIN WHITLEY.

WILLIAM, adjoining land owner. Nash County, NC. 8 January 1800.  DB6, pages 533 – 534. ROBERT CREEKMUR to DANIEL WOODARD, both of Nash County, for $200 a tract of land on the “waters of the Sappony” & Bair Branch adjoining the land of GEORGE BODDIE, WILLIAM BATCHELOR, DAVID PRIDGEN and PETER ETHERIDGE.  Witnesses: DAVID CREEKMUR and AARON WOODARD.

WILLIAM, grantor & WILLIAM, grantee.  Nash County, NC.  13 Oct. 1800.  DB 6, p. 494.  WILLIAM BATCHELOR, of Halifax County, NC to WILLIAM BATCHELOR of Nash County, NC for 300 silver dollars sells two negro boys named Daniel, eight years old and Ralph, age three years old.  proven in Oct. court, 1800.

WILLIAM, grantee.  Nash County, NC.  5 Feb. 1801.  DB6, pages 517 – 518.  PRIDGEN MANNING to WILLIAM BATCHELOR, both of Nash County, for $550 silver dollars conveys three tracts of land. Tract 1 on the south side of the Peachtree Creek containing 190 acres; Tract 2 on Peachtree Creek and Long Branch; adjoining the land DICKINSON and MILTON containing 85 acres; Tract 3 containing the Mill Seat on Peachtree Creek containing 5 acres.  Witnesses:  WILLIAM TISDALE and WILLIAM ARRINGTON.  Proven in Feb. Ct., 1801.

JOSIAH, grantee, WILLIAM, adjoining land owner.  Nash County, NC.  15 January 1803.  DB7, page 147. DANIEL WOODARD to JOSIAH BATCHELOR, both of Nash County, NC. For $230 silver dollars convey land he purchased from ROBERT CREEKMUR on 8 January 1800; 200 acres on the “waters of Sappony” & BEAR BRANCH adjoining the land of GEORGE BODDIE, WILLIAM BATCHELOR, DAVID PRIDGEN, and PETER ETHRIDGE.  Witnesses: RICHARD ARRINGTON and JOSEPH STRICKLAND.

WILLIAM, will.  Nash County, NC. 13 July 1803.  identifies WILLIAM JOHN BATCHELOR as his son, MARY BATCHELOR MANNING, wife of PRIDGEN MANNING as his daughter, and JOHN BATCHELOR MANNING as his grandson; also includes WILLIAM J. B. HARPER, JESSE PRIDGEN, and ABJAH PRIDEN.

WILLIAM, gift giver.  Nash County, NC.  30 July 1803.  DB 7, page 136.  WILLIAM BATCHELOR of Nash County for the natural love and affection for my beloved grandson JOHN BATCHELOR MANNING give one Negro man.  Witnesses: WILLIAM TISDALE and ABIJAH PRIDGEN.  proven August Ct., 1803 by ABIJAH PRIDGEN.
