This book gathers information from editorials, news articles, classifieds, and society pages found in Davidson County’s local newspapers and presents a picture of everyday life for citizens, and how they learn to cope with the reality of World War II.

The county is divided into seventeen townships: Abbotts Creek, Alleghany, Arcadia, Boone, Conrad Hill, Cotton Grove, Emmons, Hampton, Healing Spring, Jackson Hill, Lexington, Midway, Reedy Creek, Silver Hill, Thomasville, Tyro, and Yadkin College.
