The Davie County Public Library has been working to get digitized newspapers and obituaries online.  The work has not  been totally completed, but you’ll be able to find some very helpful material at http://www.daviecountync.gov/440/Genealogy-Local-History.

These are big files, so you’ll need to wait for the page to load.
  • NEWSPAPER FILES: If you click on the words “Newspaper Files from Davie County” on this site, you will be able to read many newspapers from Davie.  They are also searchable.  At the very top of the page that lists the years, type in a name that you would like to research.  Or, you can choose a date to be able to browse that newspaper.  Again, they’re not totally finished with uploading everything.
  • FOLD3: Notice also at http://www.daviecountync.gov/440/Genealogy-Local-History, that you can use Fold3 at your own computer at home if you have a Davie County Public Library card.  This Website has predominantly military records, but also includes other records.  The name refers to the way that the US flag is folded.
Forget about chores and TV; you’ll enjoy looking at all this.

Let me hear from you.
