Faison Cemetery

LOCATION: on Highway # 24, NEAR ROWAN Road (SR# 1924) Turkey, NC between New Hope Road (SR# 1926) and Highway # 24 Cemetery is located behind the Allen Canning Company have to asked for permission to enter the cemetery the personnel are very nice. Cemetery is just inside of Sampson County. Cemetery is well maintained.

Grave 1-2-3-4 in the center of the cemetery They are handsome marble vaults, top broken # 2. The Cemetery is called Cartwheel Cemetery because the parents and grandparents are in the center and the children and grandchildren are around the center vaults in a wheel like fashion The first graves in the circle on the right is that of

  • Susan A.  Bryan born Jan. 28, 1828, died May 17, 1902
  • VAULT # 1 —–On the top of the vault the slab has “JAMES FAISON” and on the upright end of the vaults it reads—Died 28, 1812 Aged 59 years. At the end of the vault a government marker has been erected with the following: “JAMES FAISON, PVT. BLOUNT’S COMPANY, N. C. TROOPS –1812
  • VAULT # 2- — Same style as # 1 has on the top “MARY FAISON” and on the end slab, “Wife of James Faison, died Sept 9, 1822, aged 69 yrs.”
  • VAULT # 3—Same style as Nos. 1 and 2 but the record is all on the top slab. In memory of William Faison, Born Aug. 29, 1791 Died Sept. 17, 1856, aged 66 yrs, 9 days. “A useful member of Society with industry and energy A friend of the poor and with many good qualities
  • VAULT # 4—Similar to the other “In memory of Susan, relict of William Faison, Born Jan. 13, 1799, died June 1st 1860, aged 61 years, 4 months & 19 days
