Julius A. Barbee
Julius A. Barbee, 77, retired rural mail carrier of 1417 Alston Avenue, died at home this morning at 3 o’clock following a long period of declining health. He had been critically ill for the past few weeks.
Mr. Barbee was born in Durham County, the son of Thomas and Rebecca Trice Barbee and was educated in the schools of Durham County. He was one of the first rural mail carriers to serve in Durham County, serving in that capacity until he retired at the age of 65.
He was a member of the Berea Baptist Church and a member of the P. O. S. of A. Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Mollie Barbee; three daughters, Mrs. W. E. Hodges, Mrs. Frank D. King, Mrs. O. K. Herndon Sr.; and one son A.J. Barbee, all of Durham; B. H. Barbee of Chatham County and E. P. Barbee of Durham; one sister, Mrs. T. A. Parrish of Durham; and several grandchildren. The body was removed to the local funeral home pending the completion of funeral arrangements.
