Funeral rites for Mrs. Sudie Barbee Parrish, 78, widow of the late Thomas S. Parrish, and resident of the Fayetteville Road, Berea Baptist Community, will be held this afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Berea Baptist Church. the Rev. Calvin H. Knight, pastor of the church and the Rev. C. H. Norris, a former pastor, will conduct the services. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at the residence until removed to the church to lie in state one hour before the service. .

Active pallbearers will be R. L. Atkins, H. H. King, Mack Vickers, W. W. Massey, Gene Shepherd and P. J. Rich. Honoray pallbearers will be Dr. W. W. Boone, C. R. McHaney, J. O. Fletcher, J. F. Parrish, A.W. Carpenter, Gordon W. Ward, Claude Vickers, G. C. Cook, T. L. Pendergrass, O. K. Goodwin, G. N. Jones, and J. Roy King.

Mrs. Parrish died Saturday morning at 2:50 o’clock at her home. She had been in declining health for the past 10 years. For the last seven years she had been an invalid. Her condition had been regarded as critical for the past week.

She was born and reared in Chatham County, now Durham County, the daughter of Thomas Barbee and Rebecca Trice Barbee. She received her education in the Durham County Schools. The greater part of her life she lived in the Berea Community where her husband was engaged in farming. For a number of years she has been a member of Berea Baptist Church. In November, 1892 she was married to Thomas A. Parrish who died April 11, 1948. Surviving this union are four daughters, Mrs. John Fletcher, Mrs. Robert Lee, Mrs. Forrest Green and Mrs. Alton Thompson, all of Durham County. Also surviving are two brothers, Thomas Barbee and Paul Barbee, both of Durham County; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
