MRS. PEARL C. BARBEE

Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Couch Barbee, 80, of Glenn Heights, Chapel Hill, and formerly of Durham County, will be conducted today at 3 p.m. at Howerton-Bryan Funeral Chapel by Rev. Warren E. Kerr, pastor of Hope Valley Baptist Church. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Annex B. Pallbearers will be Bobby, David and Stuart Barbee, Tom, Ronald and Mike Merritt, Ed Wheeler and Leon Holloman. She died Sunday morning at Watts Hospital.

A native of Durham County, she attended Durham County schools and lived here all of her life. She was a member of Hope Valley Baptist Church. Dec. 27, 1908, she married Ernest Paul Barbee of Durham County, who died June 10, 1968.

Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Gladys Herndon, Mrs. Edna Atkins and Mrs. Clara Rigsbee, all of Durham County, Miss Ruth Barbee, Mrs. Margaret Merritt and Mrs. Annie Tilley, all of Chapel Hill; five sons, Robert O. and William T. Barbee, both of Norfolk, Va., Harold J. Barbee of Fayetteville, E. P. Barbee Jr. of Carrboro and Herbert A. Barbee of Durham; three brothers, Arnold D. Couch of Ohio, John W. Couch of Durham and Chesley A. Trice of Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. E. D. Cole of Durham; 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

BARBEE–Funeral rites for Mrs. Pearl Couch Barbee, 80, of Glenn Heights, Chapel Hill, widow of Ernest Paul Barbee, will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Howerton-Bryan Funeral Chapel. Burial Maplewood Cemetery, annex B. The body will rest at Howerton-Bryan Funeral Home until moved to chapel one hour before the service. She died Sunday at 2:20 a.m. at Watts Hospital.
