Obituary of Mary Turner Bailey ~ 2008

Mrs. Mary Turner Bailey, age 80 of Marion slipped peacefully into the arms of her savior on Tuesday December 16, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 21, 1928 in McDowell County to the late N. E. Turner and Eva Carswell Turner. Mary was a member of Cross Mill United Methodist Church where she served for many years as a Sunday School teacher. She was retired as a Cafeteria Manager from the McDowell County School System and was a member of the National Humane Society. She was also a devoted Avon representative for 42 years. Her family will miss her but will be sustained by the memories of her as a loving mother and friend. Her husband Fredrick Bailey, a sister Helen Poole, and a brother N. E. Turner, Jr. preceded her in death.
Surviving are a daughter Angela Bailey Hollifield; a sister-in-law Betty Turner; and a brother-in-law Herman Poole, all of Marion; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday December 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
