Obituary of Luke Phillip Boone ~ 2009

Luke Phillip Boone, age 71, surrounded by his family and friends, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday January 24, 2009. Phillip was born in McDowell County on December 19, 1937 to the late Frank Edward and Tuie Roxanne Bradburn Boone. Phillip retired from Harris Teeter and later from J.B.’s Galaxy. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Phillip performed as a quartet member with The Singing Deacons for many years.
Mr. Boone leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Mary Rumfelt Boone of the home; three children: Rebecca B. Hall and her husband Tommy of Marion, Phillip David Boone and wife Deborah of Glenwood and Rev. Jeff Boone and wife Kim of Nebo; four sisters: Virginia Carter White, Ruth Brown Peacock, Judy Curry and Wilma Davis; three brothers: Charles, Danny and Roger Boone; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday January 27, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Eastside Baptist Church with the Revs. Robbie Waddle and Eric Grindstaff officiating. The family received friends from 2:00-3:00 PM one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was in McDowell Memorial Park.
