Obituary of Margie Beaver Burgin ~ 2009

Mrs. Margie Beaver Burgin, age 65 of Old Fort passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday March 1, 2009. A native of Yancey County, she was born on July 22, 1943 to the late Shelby and Elva Gortney Beaver. Margie was a homemaker and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother grandmother and friend.
Surviving are her husband John D. Burgin; a daughter Vickie Young and husband Robert of Burnsville; two step-sons, Scott Burgin and wife Ginger of Marion and Danny Burgin and wife Bonnie of Old Fort; five brothers and sisters, Deward Beaver of Asheville, Phillip Beaver of Burnsville, Ricky Beaver of Mars Hill, Molly Gossnell of Fletcher and Kyra Ward of Old Fort; a grandson Bear Young; and two step-grandchildren, Miranda and Shannon Burgin.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday March 3, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Revs. Rickie Bennett and Ken Nelson officiating. The family received friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial was in Cherry Springs Memorial Park.
