Obituary of Nancy Jane Aiken Gouge ~ 2008

Mrs. Nancy Jane Aiken Gouge, age 75 of Old Fort passed away Thursday August 21, 2008 at Memorial Mission Hospital. Nancy was born in Buncombe County on November 12, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Lawrence Aiken and Mary McCanless Aiken. Nancy was a member of First Baptist Church of Marion. Her family will remember her as a devoted and loving wife, mother and “Mimi.” She was preceded in death by a sister Lucille Plemmons.
Left to cherish Nancy’s memory are her husband Dean Gouge of the home; son Doug Gouge and wife Jane, and their children Jared, Darin and Megan of Old Fort; daughter Kathy Benedict and husband Brian, and their children Kyle and Robby of Old Fort; son Larry Gouge and wife Mary Jo, and their children Matthew and Casey of Salisbury; one brother Charles Aiken of Weaverville; and one sister-in-law Mary G. Williams of Marion.
A celebration of her life was held Saturday August 23, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Marion with Rev. Dr. Scott Hagaman, Rev. Chuck Tripp and Rev. Terry Childers officiating, followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. Private burial was in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
