Obituary of Oscar “Cline” Haney ~ 2008

Oscar “Cline” Haney, 86, of Old Fort passed away Thursday December 11, 2008 at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Black Mountain. He was born May 15, 1922 in Yancey County, NC to the late Mills Abertus Haney and Naomi Simmons Haney. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and he loved woodwork and working with his hands. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by three brothers, Arnold, Solon and Braskey Haney; and two sisters, Eula McKinney and Dala Walker.
Surviving are one brother Joseph Haney and wife Hazel of Boothwyan, PA; one sister Belva Haney of Black Mountain, NC; and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Black Mountain for all the love and care shown to Mr. Haney and his family.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday December 13, 2008 at Cherry Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Connor officiating. Burial followed at Cherry Springs Memorial Park. The family received friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideon’s International. Kirksey Chapel in Old Fort is assisting the family.
