Obituary of Phyllis Tucker Hollifield ~ 2008

Mrs. Phyllis Tucker Hollifield, age 68 of Nebo passed away Saturday September 13, 2008 at the Hospice House of Hospice of Rutherford County. A native of McDowell County, Phyllis was born on January 15, 1940 to the late Elmer and Ethel Tucker. She was a homemaker who dearly loved her family, especially her husband of 38 years, Ned Hollifield. A member of Fairview Freewill Baptist Church, she was also an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and needlepoint.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter Kimberly Buckner and her husband Edward of Marion; a brother Paul Tucker of Nebo; a granddaughter Scarlett Gallion of Marion; four brothers-in-law, Ralph, Millard, Howard and Richard Hollifield; and seven nieces and eight nephews.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday September 16, 2008 at 12:00 noon at Fairview Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Terry McDaniel officiating. The family received friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to the Fairview Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund at 1708 Stacy Hill Rd. Marion, NC 28752 or to Hospice of Rutherford County at PO Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043. Westmoreland Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
